Jubilant Foodworks, the operator of Domino’s Pizza in India has launched a 20-minute delivery service across 14 cities in the country.
It was already among the first to launch the 30-minute pizza delivery in India.
It said its new 20-minute delivery proposition is a “benchmark proposition revolutionizing the QSR sector”.
Covering major metros
It did not, however, mention which 14 cities will get a taste of the new service first but stated that they are spread across “20 zones” of the country.
Metropolitan cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai — where a large number of Domino’s outlets are located — are likely to be included.
Riders safety assured
Jubilant Foodworks has assured that the new delivery program will not skimp on the food quality and the safety and well–being of its delivery riders.
“In our endeavour to raise our service levels, we are clear that we will do so without compromising our riders’ safety,” said Sameer Khetarpal, CEO of Jubilant Foodworks.
The statement gains significance since food delivery aggregator Zomato had drawn criticism after announcing its 10-minute delivery service in select cities.
It was accused of putting its delivery partners at risk by rolling out the unnecessarily quick service.
How will Dominos achieve this?
Domino’s says that its 20-minute pizza delivery will be driven by “enhancing and optimizing in-store process improvements, dynamic resource planning, technology upgradation and interventions for improved operational efficiencies, and expanding stores within the vicinity”.
“These steps help the brand optimize the overall timing of the entire process, ensuring the delivery of hotter, fresher and tastier pizza in 20 minutes without compromising the food quality and the safety & well-being of its delivery riders,” read a statement by Domino’s India.
Significance of India outside US
India is Domino’s largest market outside of the US.
According to Domino’s CEO Russell Weiner, the 20-minute delivery service highlights the company’s “customer-centric approach in India”.
“Elevated consumer experience through reduced delivery time is proven to deliver better customer satisfaction and lead to increase frequency across the market.
This strategic move will give Domino’s India an edge over the competition in the QSR domain and help the brand continue to be the market leader,” Wiener said.
How the brand benefits
This quicker delivery initiative is expected to significantly grow sales volumes, increase consumer retention as well as frequency of orders and make labour cost more efficient, executives at Domino’s said.
If the experiment turns out to be successful, it could be replicated in other markets.
Art D’Elia, executive vice president, international, Domino’s said, “This is just the first place that we’re launching this initiative.
India will lead store expansion for the pizza chain outside of the US over the next 4-5 years
More stores means more supply chain infrastructure to be able to feed those stores”, D’Elia said.
