It appears that the popular messaging app, WhatsApp is working on a lot of new features to enhance its capabilities,
Out of them, one such feature is introducing an in-app dialer feature for beta users, allowing direct calls without saving contacts.
WhatsApp Introducing In-App Dialer Feature
As per the speculations, this new feature is detailed in a report by WABetaInfo, owned by Meta.
To start with, the messaging app seems to be rolling out the in-app dialer feature to some beta users.
This would further allow them to test the enhanced calling feature which is slated for inclusion in a future update.
With the help of this feature, the users will be able to directly place calls to contacts without having to save their numbers in their smartphone.
The news came out earlier too, but its precise method of implementation remained unclear then.
But now is a different story as the latest report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned company talks about introducing a floating num-pad which can be used to place calls.
For now, this new in-app dialer feature is available to some beta testers.
They have installed the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store.
If you are wondering about the final release, this feature is rolling out with WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.13.17.
How Does This New Feature Help?
It is said that the built-in WhatsApp dialer may prove to be a game-changer for scenarios requiring temporary calls.
Consider the case of the users who can quickly connect with colleagues or clients for brief discussions without saving numbers.
Besides this, the users can also make a one-off call to customer service or a business for inquiries without adding them to the contacts list.
Further, the report mentioned, “This feature allows users to make calls directly, without the need to add contacts to their address book or manually open a conversation. Additionally, after entering a phone number, users also have the option to quickly save it to the address book as a new contact or add it to an existing contact card.”
Adding,“A messaging shortcut is also available within the dialer screen, allowing users to quickly send a message to a screen, allowing users to quickly send a message to a
phone number they initially intended to dial but chose to message instead.”
