Apple is reportedly working on a new generation of custom chips that will drive several of its future innovations — including its first smart glasses, advanced AI servers, and new MacBooks. According to Bloomberg, these chips represent Apple’s deeper push into artificial intelligence and hardware optimization.

Apple Making Special Processors For Smart Glasses

Smart Glasses Chip Built for Efficiency

A key highlight of this development is the chip for Apple’s upcoming smart glasses. Based on energy-efficient components used in the Apple Watch, the chip has been customized to manage multiple cameras and deliver high performance with minimal power usage. This strategic approach is essential for wearable tech that relies on compact and lightweight design.

Mass production of this chip could begin by the end of 2026 or in 2027. If successful, Apple’s smart glasses may hit the market within the next two years.

Powering the Apple Intelligence Ecosystem

Apple is also creating chips designed for AI servers to support its newly introduced Apple Intelligence platform. These servers would help enable features like email rewriting, notification summaries, and ChatGPT integration across Apple devices — all with a focus on privacy and on-device processing.

These AI-dedicated processors mark a significant move as Apple aims to compete more aggressively in the fast-growing AI space, keeping pace with tech giants like Microsoft and Google.

Next-Gen Mac Chips: M6 and M7 in the Pipeline

In addition to AI and wearable tech, Apple is working on next-generation Mac processors, likely to be named the M6 and M7. These chips are expected to continue Apple’s tradition of in-house silicon design that prioritizes performance, battery efficiency, and deep integration with macOS.

What This Means for Apple’s Future

With these chips, Apple is laying the groundwork for a future powered by intelligent, efficient hardware across product categories. Whether it’s wearable smart glasses or AI-enhanced computing, the tech giant is clearly betting big on its silicon strategy to fuel innovation in the years ahead.
