Tata Sold 1400 Cars Per Day In March, Beats Hyundai, Mahindra, Honda In Sales! Nexon Is #1 Electric Car
With a YoY sales increase of 43%, Tata Motors finished third for the month of March as it sold 42,295 units in 2022 as compared to 29,655 units during the same period in 2021.
In the month of February 2022, Tata sold 39980 units. This means that the brand saw an increase of YoY volume growth of 6 per cent.
Tata Finished Third, Hyundai Second
With only a gap of 2,305 units with second-placed Hyundai, Tata Motors came third in the list. Tata Motors beat Mahindra, Kia, Toyota, Renault, Honda, Skoda, MG and others to clinch the third spot. Last month, it had a market share of 13.2%.
While the automotive industry registered a 6 per cent MoM growth, it endured a near flat YoY growth compared to March 2021.
The products of the brand like Nexon, Altroz, Punch and Tiago were received well. The Punch micro SUV which made the debut last year has been received well by the customers. It is one of the top sellers, along with the Nexon Compact SUV.
While the Nexon EV is already currently the best-selling passenger car in the country, the updated Tigor EV was also introduced by Tata. In the coming weeks, the long-range version of the electric SUV with more than 400 km claimed drive range and a larger battery back is expected to go on sale. On the lines of Nexon, the company is developing a midsize SUV coupe.
The new midsize SUV will lock horns with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Nissan Kicks. Before the debut of the petrol and diesel versions, the electric version of the midsize SUV coupe will likely be launched sometime next year. Including a dedicated skateboard, three EV platforms are currently in development.
Just a few months ago, a new subsidiary known as TPEML (Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited) was announced by Tata. With a hefty investment it was started and over the period of five years, it will develop a total of ten electric vehicles. This will include the reported Sierra EV.
Highest Ever Annual Sales, Highest EV Sales
Tata posted its highest ever annual sales of 3,70,732 units in FY22, which is a 67 per cent YoY growth. With an increase of 47%, the last quarter saw a sales of 1,23,051 units. Along with highest-ever monthly SUV sales of 29,559 units, last months sales were also the highest in a month. Tata also recorded the highest annual EV sales of 19,106 units with 353 per cent growth alongside the highest quarterly and highest ever monthly sales of 9,095 units (up by 432 per cent) and 3,357 units (up by 377 per cent) respectively.
