Gautam Adani Beats Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos In Wealth Creation Growth: Richer By Rs 3.6 Lakh Cr!

The 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List said on Wednesday said that Gautam Adani added more than $49 billion to his wealth last year, which is more than the net addition of wealth by the top three global billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault.

With a yoy increase of 24%, Mukesh Ambani continues to be the richest Indian with a wealth of $103 billion. He runs the oil-to-retail conglomerate Reliance Industries.

The close second to Ambani is Adani, who is the head of the ports-to-energy conglomerate Adani Group, saw his wealth surging 153 per cent to $81 billion.

Adani Saw An Increase of 1830% in Wealth in Last Decade

The list said that in the last 10 years, Ambani’s wealth has grown 400 per cent whereas Adani saw an increase of 1,830 per cent.

Adani is followed by the HCL’s Shiv Nadar with $28 billion, Serum Institute’s Cyrus Poonawalla with $26 billion and steel magnate Lakshmi N Mittal with $25 billion.

After listing of Adani Green, the listing renewable energy company, wealth of Adani has increased nearly five times to $81 billion from $17 billion in 2020. The report said that wealth of Ambani grew by USD 20 billion in 2021.

In the Hurun Global Rich List 2022, with $7.6 billion, Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar is the wealthiest new entrant.

The 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List ranked 3,381 billionaires from 2,557 companies and 69 countries.

When it comes to number of billionaires and the number of billionaires who have added at least a billion-dollar to their wealth, India ranks third, said MD and Chief Researcher, Anas Rahman Junaid. He said that “Over the last 10 years, Indian billionaires added circa $700 billion to their cumulative wealth – this is equivalent to Switzerland’s GDP and twice the GDP of the UAE!”.

With 215 Known Billionaires, India Has 8% of World’s ‘Known’ Billionaires

India has 18 % of the world’s population. Five years ago India had 4.9% of the world’s ‘known’ billionaires. Now it has 8%.

As compared to 1,133 Chinese and 716 Americans, India has 215 billionaires.

The statement said that in the 2022 list, Adani is the biggest wealth gainer followed by Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and founder and CEO of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, Bernard Arnault ($39 billion addition).

When it comes to wealth addition, Ambani is ranked 8th in the list.

According to the report, ten years back Ambani was at 20.5B $ and Adani was 8.8B$ and five years back Ambani was at 45B $ and Adani was 14B$.

With a net worth of $23 billion each, Radhakishan Damani of Avenue Supermarts and SP Hinduja of Hinduja entered into the top 100 in 2022 M3M Hurun Global Rich List for the first time.
