TCS Beats Infosys, HCL In Hiring Women, Becomes #1 Women Employer In India
The highest employer of women in India is one of India’s largest IT services providers, Tata Consultancy Services.
As per reports, the company now has 1,78,357 women employees.
In addition to that, the report has studied top 500 companies, and they have 644 women directors on their boards.
TCS Has Highest Number Of Women Employees; Infosys, Wipro Follow
As per the latest 2021 Burgundy Private Hurun India list of 500 most valuable companies, TCS has a headcount of 5,06,908 employees, and has emerged as the highest in the country, and the value of the company is Rs. 13,09,488.
The list has been compiled by Burgundy Private and Hurun India. It includes 500 top private companies that have their headquarters in India. However, public and subsidiaries of foreign companies have not been included. Additionally, to be included in the list, companies were required to have a minimum value of Rs 5,600 crore.
The top 500 companies in the country have a total headcount of more than 6.9 million people and the average is of 13,800 employees per company.
While TCS has employed the highest number of women, Infosys and Wipro come second and third in line respectively. Infosys has employed 2,59,619; of which, 1,00,321 are women. Whereas, Wipro has 72000 women employees.
Godrej, Apollo And Others Have Highest Number of Women Directors
Four companies have emerged at the top of the list when it comes to the number of women on the Board of Directors. Godrej Consumer Products, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, Godrej Agrovet and India Cements have 5 women directors each.
In the list of total employees, Quess Corp is second with around 3,63,136 employees; of which, 61,733 are women.
ICICI bank has emerged on the top with the most number of women employees in the banking sector, with 31,059 women. Second in line is HDFC Bank with 21,746 women employees. And coming in third place, Reliance Industries has a total headcount of 2,36,334 employees; of which, 19,561 are women.
