RedmiBook India Launch On August 3, Redmi Laptops Confirmed: To Take On RealmeBook In India?

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain confirmed Redmi Laptops are coming to India. Called RedmiBooks, the Redmi laptops will directly take on the upcoming Realme laptops in India, the Realme Book. RedmiBook India launch date has been announced at the same time, happening on August 3. The company already sells laptops in India under the Mi brand, and will now debut with the Redmi brand in the laptops segment.

The official RedmiBook India launch date was announced in the tweet confirming the Redmi laptop’s arrival in the country, and will be unveiled on August 3.

The teaser revealed thicker bezels on the top of the display compared to premium Mi Laptops in India. Redmi already sells laptops in China, and it could be bringing the original RedmiBook 14 from 2019 or the RedmiBook 16 to the country.

The company may either launch the RedmiBook 14 or the newer RedmiBook 16 in India. The upcoming Redmi laptop in India is expected to come with a 14-inch IPS LCD display featuring a Full HD panel. It will come with different processors including Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7. Though, there could be changes and it could come with Intel’s newest 11th-generation Tiger Lake processor or previous-generation Comet Lake hardware.

The RedmiBook will come with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port an HDMI port. The Redmi laptop will have a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

Coming to storage and RAM, the laptop will be available in multiple RAM configurations with upto 8GB of RAM.  The base model may come with 256GB of flash SSD storage, while the top model will have 512GB flash SSD storage. The processors will differ depending upon the storage configurations. 

The Redmi laptop will run on Windows 10 Home out of the box, expected to have Windows 11 support shortly. Coming to build and keyboard, the Redmi laptop will have a full-size island-style backlit keyboard, much like the Apple laptops with a premium metal built on the our. The RedmiBooks will have a compact size factor with an all aluminium metal design.

In China, RedmiBook 14 starts at Yuan 3,999 (Rs 40,300), going up to Yuan 4,999 (INR 50,400) for the top model. Starting with the top-end variant, the RedmiBook 14 with 8GB of RAM and 512GB flash storage costs Yuan 4,999 (INR 50,4000). The 256GB RedmiBook 14 with the Core i5 processor sells at Yuan 3,999 (Rs 40,300). The company will sell laptops in the same price range.

RedmiBook price in India may start somewhere around Rs 40,000. While the company already sells Mi Laptops in the same price category, there could be a budget model at around Rs 35,000 or so.
