Ola Electric To Launch Electric Scooters; Will Set Up World’s Largest Scooter Manufacturing Plans
Ola Electric is planning to set up a ‘Hypercharger Network’ which will include about one lakh charging points across 400 cities.
We reported to you that Ola has plans to invest as much as $327 million to set up the “world’s largest scooter manufacturing facility” in Tamil Nadu. Along with this, the company has also assured the creation of almost 10,000 jobs and a capacity of producing 2 million electric vehicles in a year.
Ola Chairman and Group CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said, “We will put out the factory by June, which will have the capacity to manufacture 2 million units and then we’ll ramp up – over the next 12 months – after the factory is set up…the sale will also start at the same time, so factory gets completed in June, sale starts in July.”
Ola’s plans to launch the electric scooter are a part of the global vision of the company for a more sustainable, accessible, and connected future for mobility.
The price of the e-scooter has not yet been disclosed by the company.

Aggarwal has also stated that the Hypercharger Network will be one of the largest fast charging network for two-wheelers in around 400 cities and towns. He also confirmed the set up of 1,00,000 charging points as a part of this network.
Ola will be setting up more than 5000 charging points in 100 cities of India in the first year. The network will be capable of charging 50 percent of the Ola Scooter battery in 18 minutes for a 75 km range.
As per reports, the charging stations will be employed as stand-alone towers and will also be set up in popular locations, such as malls, IT parks, office complexes, and cafes. This will make sure that Ola electric customers will have easy access to a charging point.
Customers will also be able to monitor the charging in real-time through the Ola electric app and also pay for the charging through the same.
In addition, the Ola Scooter will come with a home charger that will include no installation. It will also allow customers to charge their vehicles at home with the help of a regular wall socket.
