Rajdhani Express Becomes 90 Minutes Faster Across India; New Push-Pull Technology Deployed
The Indian Railways wants to reduce the journey of passengers on major train routes, such as Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata by 60 to 90 minutes. And for this, the national transporter has set up 12 Rajdhani Express rakes as push-pull locomotive-hauled trains.
Read on to find out how this works, right here!
Push Pull Technology Implemented In 12 Rajdhani Expresses To Reduce Journey Time
If the push-pull engine is implemented in Rajdhani Express trains, the speed of the train is increased and helps the train reach its destination station quickly. 12 Rajdhani Express rakes have been prepped up as push-pull locomotive hauled trains.
In 2019, we reported to you that the Rajdhani Express was all set to become engine-less. A sleeper version of Train18 has been planned, which will soon become the new Rajdhani Express train.
In January, Rajdhani Express was the first Indian Railways train to be operated on the push pull technology from Mumbai to New Delhi. On January 19, 2019, train number 22221/22222 Rajdhani Express had its inaugural run. It was operated under the Mission Raftar project of Indian Railways.
This train is operated under the Central Railway zone and the bi-weekly train includes one First AC, three AC 2 Tier, eight AC 3 Tier and one pantry car. The Rajdhani Express has been a great help the citizens who live in the the Central suburbs beyond Kalyan and Thane in Maharashtra because it offers a boarding facility at Kalyan railway station.
How Does The Push Pull Technology Work?
The push pull technology comes with many advantages which includes an increase in the safety of train operations, reduction in travel time, offers comfortable rides (jerk-free) to passengers along with a reduction in cost.
The push pull technology works like this – the train will be run with one engine at the front and one engine at the back. This also ensures that there is no need to attach or detach bankers in the ghat section. This results in a reduced journey time.
As per reports, the Rajdhani Express train will be able to finish the entire journey at a speed of 160 km per hour.
