Google Map Is Finally Changing – Route Selection Screen Will Now Have This New Feature (Full Details)
After the last major update in appearance in 2018, Google map is all set to get a makeover again. According to the reports, google maps is testing out a new user interface. Majorly, the route option screen is going to undergo alternation. Looking at the images that are floating all over, it feels like the update is going to make google maps look cleaner and minimal.
What Changes Will Be Made In The Appearance Of Google Maps?
Specifically, the new UI is targeting the top bar on the route selection screen which asks for current location and the destination. Currently, the google maps has a bar at the top for selecting a route accompanied by the option to choose the mode of transport just below it.
The screenshots of the new UI shared by XDA developers, suggests that the route selection bar will be cleaner and placed at the top itself. However, the bar to select different modes of travel like a car, public transport, walk, cab, and bike will be placed in the extreme bottom of the screen.
Currently, Google maps over a lot of options in the route selection screen which can be seen at the right side of ‘your location’ bar. These options include add stop, set depart and arrive time, share directions, share your location, search along route etc.
When Will The New Look Get Released?
The exact date of release of the updated Google maps is not revealed yet. Since the reports are suggesting that the new UI is already under testing phase, speculations are that the new look will be released very shortly.
There are also claims that the new UI will offer the option of split screen so that the user can view the street and navigate simultaneously. However, this feature cant be available for everyone. This includes the Indian users since there is no support for street viewing available in India.
Google maps is undoubtedly the most used navigation app all over the world. The huge variety of features that it offers makes it no match for other navigation apps like OpenStreetMap, MapQuest, Maze and even Apple maps
