Top 10 Upcoming Movies, Shows On Netflix, Prime, Zee5, Hotstar This Weekend (Dec 19-20)

Following the trend of the past two years, this week also, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Zee5 and Voot Select will release a slew of new movies and shows. 

But with the arrival of festive seasons and Christmas less than 10 days away, most of the OTT platforms are adding holiday-friendly titles to their roster. 

In addition to that, a great deal of titles across genres make their digital premiers so let’s take a look at your pick.

1. BLACK WIDOWS – ZEE5/ALT BALAJI

It is a crime thriller offered by Zee5 and ALT Balaji joined hands to bring to you releasing on December 18. 

The is a story is about three best friends, victims of abusive relationships and are pushed to plan the murder of their husbands. 

Although, the plan, which looked flawless initially, is exposed due to the uncalculated loopholes left by the trio. 

The same is caught by a retiring cop and is hell bent on getting to the depth of the crime. 

2. THE LEGEND OF EL CID – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Here is an eye candy for you who loved Jamie Lorente (Denver) in Money Heist as he is leading this Spanish war TV series on Amazon Prime Video. 

This story is about the life of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, a castilian nobleman who was also the war hero in medieval Spain releasing on December 18. 

3. ON POINTE – DISNEY+ HOTSTAR

If you ever thought about the inside world of the famous American School of Ballet in New York City Well –  Here’s your chance to take a virtual tour. 

The highly coveted academy is showcased beautifully in this docu series on Disney+ Hotstar.

Releasing on 18 December, has over six episodes, a great way to spend your weekend binge.

4. THE GRAND TOUR S4 – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Releasing on December 18, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are set to reunite for another unscripted adventure. 

They will take part in a “massive hunt” in the Madagascar forest and look to have fun with Pirate treasures, cycle hunts and electric cars pose as the key attractions of this season’s adventure. 

5. LIKE A BOSS – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

If you are looking for any chick flicks, this is the pick for you.

Releasing on December 17,  meet the best friends Mia and Mel, who have put their heart in their jointly-owned cosmetic company.

But now they have to take a stern decision about its future as they are knee-deep in debt, with no new fruit borne by the business, they are pushed against the wall. 

6. THE EXPANSE – SEASON 5 – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Good news for all The Expanse fans as the 5th season of the top-notch sci-fi series is releasing on December 16. 

The show sheds light on Thomas Jane’s detective character.

The show is mostly compared to the GoT, the excellence of this show hasn’t been talked about enough. 

7. A CALIFORNIA CHRISTMAS – NETFLIX

A perfect way to celebrate this christmas, A California Christmas comes to the platform on December 14. 

The story is about a wealthy charmer posing as a ranch hand to get a hardworking farmer to sell her family’s land before Christmas. 

The flick promises to be an entertaining rom com casting Lauren Swickard, Josh Swickard and Amanda Detmer.

8. THE STAND – VOOT SELECT

The Stand is one of the best propositions of Voot releasing on December 18.

It is showcasing a dark fantasy mini-series based on Stephen King’s 1978 eponymous novel. 

The story is about an apocalyptic world, which is wiped off its population due to a weaponised strain of influenza, starring Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgård and James Marsden in the lead roles.

9.  EDGE OF TOMORROW – NETFLIX

To make a balance between the holiday specials, EDGE OF TOMORROW is the story about Major William Cage, who is caught in a time loop,with the much-needed help from warrior Rita Vrataski, must save the earth and the human race from an alien species. 

Released on December 14, the movie is directed by Doug Liman, the star cast is led by Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. 

10. MAGIC BEYOND WORDS: THE J.K. ROWLING STORY UMA AND DEVAN – NETFLIX

Considering the huge fan following of the Harry Potter fans, Netflix is bringing this stunning reel to the platform on December 15. 

The story is about JK Rowling, who rose to become one of the most influential writers of all time. 

The plot sheds light on the humble journey of a young and imaginative, yet awkward teenager, tragic events like the loss of her mother and the genesis of her Harry Potter phenomenon.
