Following the footsteps of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has also announced a bonus to its employees.
As much as 15 lakh employees of the UP government will receive this bonus. However, there is a catch!

Government Of Uttar Pradesh Announces Bonus For 15 Lakh Government Employees
As per reports, the bonus granted by the Government of UP will be equal to the salary of 30 days of the employee. 15 lakh employees working for the Government will enjoy this benefit. These employees include state government employees, government and government-aided school teachers, employees of local bodies and daily wagers under the state.
To be specific, as much as 8,80,187 non-gazetted employees, 6,00,000 workers in government aided institutes and 2,000 daily wagers will benefit from this bonus.
The spokesperson of the government has annunced that this decision of granting a bonus will cost Rs 1,022 crore to the state exchequer. Also, the norms dictate that the maximum bonus given to each employee would be Rs 6,908.
Here Is The Catch!
The catch in this decision is that 25 per cent of the bonus will be given in cash, whereas, 75 per cent will be added to the Provident Fund (PF). As per the spokesperson, the employees who do not have a PF account will be given National Security certificate for the same amount
Yadvendra Mishra, head of Uttar Pradesh Secretariat Employees Association, said, “The bonus is applicable to class-three and four employees. It is a welcome move and we are thankful. Though we were expecting that if not 100 per cent, then at least 50 per cent of the bonus will be given in cash.”
As per the order by the UP Government, employees who retired on March 31, 2020, or will retire on April 30, 2021 will be given their bonus amounts in cash.
Very recently, The Government of Tamil Nadu had also announced a Diwali bonus of as much as Rs 210.48 crore for the PSU employees in the state.
