Tamil Nadu Government Announces Diwali Bonus For 2.91 Lakh Employees
The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced a Diwali bonus of as much as Rs 210.48 crore for the PSU employees in the state.
This bonus has been announced the spurt sink in the operating income of many e companies as a result of public transport and factories not operating due to the lockdown imposed nationwide to limit the spreading of the coronavirus disease.
This new development will be benefitting move than 2.91 lakh employees of the state government. As per reports, the beneficiaries will include the workers and employees in the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ category who are employed in all profit/loss-making public sector undertakings. These employees will be given a bonus of 8.33 per cent and an ex-gratia of 1.67 per cent.
As per the release, “The employees’ toil plays an important role in accelerating the countrys economic growth. It is through their hard work that the country is achieving excellent economic growth.”
Permanent Workers To Be Given Bonus And Ex-Gratia Too
Additionally, the eligible permanent workers will be given a bonus and ex- gratia of Rs. 8,400 each. The release also states that this move by the government will help workers of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) to celebrate Diwali in a dignified and special way.
The order has also clarified that the implementation of the lockdown due to the COVID-19 disease has affected The functioning of all all business entities which also includes state PSUs and statutory boards.
The release states, “Despite this, all workers were paid full monthly wages in the interest of their families.”
The release also states that labour intensive government agencies have been affected particularly. These include the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Generating, and Distribution Corporation, Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation, the Tamil Nadu Tea Plantation Corporation, and several others.
