October 2020 Car Sales Analysis

The top 2 positions have been held by Swift and Baleno for many months now. For over a decade, India’s best-selling car has been Swift and Baleno has emerged as a leader of the hot-hatch segment. 

As you can see, the top 5 positions are held by Maruti-Suzuki with a total of 7 models in the top 10 sales charts of October 2020. 

Hyundai Creta continues to maintain its position as the best 5-seater SUV in the country. Creta posted a breathtaking growth 92% compared to the previous generation model.

Maruti Brezza has successfully achieved the rank as #1 car in the sub 4 meter UV sales category thus beating Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue.

Despite being in a highly-competitive segment, Kia Sonet is rapidly growing in-demand and now it has entered the top 10 car sales chart.

The COVID-19 resultant lockdowns and economic crisis had hit the automobile industry, thus, slowing down the demand. As things began to go back to normal, the small car began to rise to the demand due to financial instability coupled with easy mobility.

After a really long time, the October car sales figures have managed to record a huge sales numbers. Be it due to the festive season and/or lockdown restrictions being eased, the number signals the commencement of the economic revival of the country.
