Top Android 11 Features: New Additions, Best Android 11 Features

According to Google, the new Android 11 is more “people-centric and expressive.” Here’s what the top features are about.

Permission To Access: One-Time Permission

The latest Android 11 update adds up the new feature to grant access to apps for one-time. Android 11 will let you have more control over the apps you use. So this works in a simple way, you grant some permissions to an app, but this will only be available for an amount of time.

To put it in layman terms, on Android 11, the apps will only get one-time permission to access important features as location, camera, or microphone.

The latest update adds one single session use. Once used, the app will no more be able to use the features you previously granted, and has to be enabled again. This will let you keep a track of what you want to share and not.

New Media Controls

Android 11 Beta has an all new “Media Resumption” developer option. It has to be enabled from the settings menu which pushes media notifications from specific media apps as Spotify, YouTube, Google Podcasts and such. This quick settings menu offers you with new options with what you want to listen.

It has different set of controls at a time which easily lets you switch between different audio.

It can be a speaker or something, and you get to directly choose within the latest controls on how you want the output of audio to go.

Chat Bubbles

The Android 11 beta introduced a similar chat bubble feature as Facebook Messenger. Integrated within the OS, the chat bubble will let you multitask and chat at the same time. The chat bubbles work within the system and users can use it to reply to conversations using another app at a time without having to switch.

So, you will no more have to jump between the current app and the messaging app to chat, work or surf. Android 11 beta also adds new keyboard suggestions with “context-specific entities and strings” within the suggestion strip.

Background Location Permission

Android 11 lays more emphasis on the access to your real-time location. The background location permission gets more difficult for apps on Android 11. An app can ask for your location, but it can only track your location when you are actively using the app and not in the background. The single session access to location is there alongside.

If any app wants your location for all the time, a separate pop up will come up later.

So, Google will be double checking from your side whether you want to grant location access to any app for all the time. If you agree, there will further be a full-screen system settings screen. You finally need to allow here to grant location access indefinitely.

Apps You Don’t Use Will Lose Access To Location, Camera And More

Android 11 solves a real-time problem. There are apps which you really don’t use or have used a time or so, but it’s there on your list. Apps that you no longer use will be losing access to any of the important features on your smartphone which also includes parts of your personal data.

While Google is yet to give us a timeline when an app will lose access to the privileges, expected between a few weeks and a month or so.

Such apps which haven’t been used in some time will automatically have all of their system-level permissions revoked, and will have to be turned on manually later to use the app.

Private Storage Area For Each App

The Android 11 brings in how each app will use your local storage. The latest update will limit the ways how a third party app on your device interacts with your local storage. Each app will have its own private storage area with Android 11. This basically means separate storage units for each app which has been allowed to access your mobile storage.

So, apps on your device won’t be able to get hold of any other information or data from your local storage.

Coming to shared storage, the media and downloads folders will need separate access. Any app who wants to get into the shared area of storage, it needs approval from your side in order to get access to such files.
