Xiaomi, Poco, Redmi, Oppo Price Hiked By Upto Rs 2000; Here Are The New Prices Due To 50% GST Hike

Xiaomi and Oppo, both has increased the price of their smartphones by upto Rs 2000. 5-15% increase in every smartphones sold by these two biggies has been implemented.
No, coronavirus is not the reason. Govt’s decision to increase GST on smartphones by 50% is the main reason here.
Xiaomi Increases Price Of All Smartphones
All the brands of smartphones sold under Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco brands have been increased, to accomodate the 50% GST hike announced by Govt of India last month.
Xiaomi India Head announced this on Twitter, and gave the reason as the GST hike.
He said that this price hike has been done to keep up their company’s principle to maintain atleast 5% margin on all hardware.
He said, Mi fans, #GST on mobile phones has increased by 50% from 12% to 18%. After much deliberation & in keeping with #Xiaomi policy of maintaining <5% margin on our hardware products,we will be increasing prices of our products.”

It is expected that 5-10% of the price will now increase.
The new prices have been made effective immediately. Since India is under lockdown, no one can order these phones yet, that’s another issue.
There is no news about the smartphones which have been ordered last week.
New Price Of Redmi, Poco, Mi Smartphones
Poco X2, with 6GB RAM and 128GB external memory, whose old price was Rs 16,999, is now listed at Rs 17,999, an increase of Rs 1000.
Poco X2 with 6GB and 64GB combination is now priced at Rs 16,999, meanwhile, 8GB, 256GB variant is now priced Rs 20,999.
At the same time, price of Redmi K20’s 6GB, 64GB version has been increased by Rs 2000, and the price of Redmi K20 Pro’s price too has been increased by Rs 2000.
These new prices are effective on Flipkart.
Poco India General Manager C Manmohan revealed these new, increased prices.
Oppo Also Increases Price Of Their Smartphones
Oppo has also decided to increase the price of their smartphones, to accommodate the new increased GST of 18%.

While Oppo A1k now costs Rs 500 more at Rs 7990, Oppo A5s now costs Rs 8990 for 2GB version, which was earlier Rs 8490.
The price of Oppo Reno 3 Pro has been increased by Rs 2000 as well.
