The company recently unveiled Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India.
Xiaomi will launch Redmi Note 9S on March 23 with the same punch-hole display design as other Redmi Note 9 smartphones. Redmi Note 9S launch in India is yet to be confirmed, and the pricing is expected to fall in the Rs 10,000-category.

A toned-down model of the current Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphones, the upcoming Redmi Note 9S will also come with a similar punch-hole display design as it’s other series handsets. As Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max, the Note 9S will feature a punch-hole in the middle.
At the back, Note 9S will have a quad camera setup in a square shape. The design in teasers confirm a square camera bump featuring four cameras.
Expected to be a toned-down Redmi Note 9 Pro, the Note 9S specs will be more or less similar as Redmi Note 9 Pro with probably a different processor, a smaller battery and some other changes.
Redmi Note 9S launch is happening on March 23 in Malaysia, and the Note 9S India launch is expected sometime later, in case the company plans to expand the Redmi Note 9 line-up in the country.
Redmi Note 9S price is expected to stay in the Rs 10,000 category, and in India the device could be available starting at Rs 9,999 for the base model.
Last time Xiaomi released a Redmi Note phone with the S denomination was with the Redmi Note 7 series, the Redmi Note 7S. The company didn’t unveil a Redmi Note 8S, but in 2020, we will be getting a Redmi Note 9S under the brand new Redmi Note 9 series.

Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with a new design on the out made out of glass featuring a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display on top offering Full HD+ resolution. It’s a 60Hz display but offers 120Hz touch sampling rate with a punch hole camera at the top centre of the display.
Redmi Note 9 Pro sports a splash proof P2i coating with an anti-corrosion layer for the internal components.
Redmi Note 9 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 720G, the new mid-range gaming-centric chip by Qualcomm.
The chip pairs with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. The device supports a dedicated storage slot and features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Redmi Note 9 Pro will have a new 48MP camera and not the 64-megapixel main camera from the predecessor. The Note 9 Pro will use the new 48-megapixel Samsung GM2 sensor.
The four camera block behind will further pack an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera offering 120-degree field of view, a new 5-megapixel macro sensor with support for 2cm to 10cm focus distance and finally a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Upfront, the punch-hole houses a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. Note 9 Pro comes with support for NavIC by ISRO, which uses Indian satellites for navigation. Redmi Note 9 Pro packs a massive 5,020mAh battery this time supporting 18W fast charging.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is a maxed out version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. With a new glass design featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the Note 9 Pro Max will be available in three color combinations: Interstellar Black, Glacier White and Aurora Blue.
The device features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device features a similar 6.67-inch IPS LCD display as Note 9 Pro with 60Hz refresh rate offering 120Hz touch sampling rate.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is also powered by the same Qualcomm mid-range gaming-centric chip, the Snapdragon 720G. Note 9 Pro Max pairs with 6GB or 8GB of DDR4X RAM with up to 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.
It also supports a dedicated SD card slot and it has brought NavIC support from ISRO. The two models have a difference in main rear camera.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a 64-megapixel main camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle shooter, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Upfront, Xiaomi has put a 32-megapixel selfie camera inside the punch-hole. The phone packs a 5,020mAh battery with a better fast charger, a 33W fast charger will come with the box.

Redmi Note 9 Pro price starts at Rs 12,999. The device has been launched in two different storage variants. The base model is available with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, priced at Rs 12,999. The top-end variant comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB, is available for Rs 15,999.
Redmi Note 9 Pro will be available via Amazon India and Mi.com starting March 17, 2020.
