Samsung’s latest tenth generation Galaxy S flagship does take a toll at Apple’s super-costly iPhone XS. The South Korean powerhouse launched three smartphones under its latest Galaxy S10 series: Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S10E.
The lineup is much like Apple’s latest offerings: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone.
Samsung has taken a massive leap with it’s latest lineup. All the smartphones come with latest features backed by new technologies. Apple will definitely face some heat. So let’s compare iPhone XS and Galaxy S10 to find out who’s got the edge.

Galaxy S10 vs iPhone XS: Full Comparison

Design & Build
iPhone XS is built out of a stainless steel body on the out with a glass sandwich design back and front. Galaxy S10 has a similar built on the out, with a metal railing surrounding the smartphone.
Galaxy S10 houses an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, and iPhone XS still depends on its infrared based Face Unlock.
Display
Samsung Galaxy S10 sports a 6.1-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display. It has a cutout on the right side with a 19:9 aspect ratio with a 550 ppi pixel density. In comparison, iPhone XS comes with a 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina Display with the traditional display notch.
Galaxy S10 offers a better screen to body ratio with no notch. Apple has a huge broad notch compared to the single cutout on Galaxy S10 with curved bezels on the sides.
Though, down under Galaxy S10 has a thin chin, where Apple has neatly covered it up with no chin at all.
Hardware
Galaxy S10 will come with 8nm octa-core Samsung Exynos 9820 SoC in India with upto 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. In comparison, the iPhone XS has a 7nm six-core A12 Bionic system engine coupled with 4GB of RAM.
In terms of daily use and even heavy usage, both the smartphone will excel in terms of hardcore performance and high-end gaming.
If put head to head, Apple iPhone XS will stay a tad ahead of Samsung Galaxy S10.
Software
In terms of software, there’s nothing to compare. It’s up to you what you prefer, iOS or Android. Samsung Galaxy S10 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with One UI on top. While Apple iPhone XS runs on the latest iOS 12.1.4.
Samsung has done a great job this time with their UI. Samsung’s One UI always been a letdown, but this around, the company has been able to bring in refinements and more user-focused features.
Rear Camera
Samsung Galaxy S10 has a triple rear camera setup which comes to Dual OIS (optical image stabilization) technology. The smartphone features a primary 12-megapixel 77-degree wide-angle camera coupled with 2PD autofocus with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.5 to f/2.4 with OIS and a secondary 12-megapixel 45-degree lens telephoto with variable 0.5x and 2x optical zoom camera with f/2.4 aperture and OIS.
Finally, the third lens features a 16-megapixel 123-degree ultra-wide lens camera with fixed focus and an f/2.2 aperture.
In comparison, iPhone XS features a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a second 12-megapixel telephoto secondary sensor an f/2.4 aperture. It features a six-element lens supporting 2x optical zoom.
Front Camera
Samsung Galaxy S10 features a 10-megapixel camera front sensor with 2PD autofocus and an f/1.9 aperture. While the iPhone XS has a 7-megapixel RGB front sensor along with an f/2.2 lens.
It’s a part of the Apple TrueDepth camera system supporting Face ID.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy S10 is backed by a 3,400mAh battery supporting Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, Wireless PowerShare and fast wired charging.
Apple didn’t reveal any official battery capacity, but according to TENAA, the iPhone XS has a 2,658 mAh battery supporting wireless charging on the Qi standard.
Pricing
Apple iPhone XS is available in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray colour options in India. The smartphone is available in three variants in the country:
Rs 99,900 for the 64GB model
Rs 1,14,900 for the 256GB model
Rs 1,34,900 for the 512GB model
Coming to the Samsung Galaxy S10, it will be available in two storage versions in in prism black, prism white and prism blue colors:
Rs 66,900 for the 128GB model
Rs 84,900 for the 512GB model
Galaxy S10 vs iPhone XS: CONCLUSION
In terms of price, Galaxy S10 will stay ahead in the competition. Apple iPhone XS starts at a lakh a piece for the base variant. So, that makes Galaxy S10 a more sensible purchase given the set of features and specifications available. Samsung’s latest Galaxy S10 has been able to define a flagship in a true sense.
If compared to Apple iPhone XS, Samsung has done a great job in packing the latest of technologies in a smartphone at a far lower price than Apple’s offering.
The better camera, storage and display on Galaxy S10 does make a difference. If performance is your sole primary concern, the half-year-old iPhone XS will beat Galaxy S10 with higher benchmark scores. Though, if we had to pick a premium flagship now, it’s definitely gonna be the new powerhouse, Galaxy S10.
