Jio GigaFiber Interrupted By Rain
Right now, Jio Gigafiber’s entire team is focussing on deploying the required optical fibers for connecting the end-user with their network hubs.
This last mile connectivity operations is facing an obstacle in the form of rains. Monsoon has covered entire India, and rains have started everywhere.
This has forced Jio to stop their activities in some regions, as this is against Govt. rules pertaining to the digging of grounds.
A person close to the developments said, “The process of laying fiber outside has been stopped due to unfavorable weather as the government does not give permission to dig during rains,”
How Is Jio Handling This Problem?
It seems that Jio will now use cable operators’ help and assistance in this regard. Cables are already existing in most of the country, and Jio is seeking their assistance to provide the last mile connectivity.
Besides, to tackle issues related to the municipality, Jio has allocated one liaisoning officer every state to check the updates and to remove any obstacle.
There is an expenditure of $100-150 per subscriber for performing the last-mile connectivity. Jio had promised to enroll 50 million users across 1150 cities in the first phase. It would be interesting to observe how Jio is able to accomplish that.
But going by Reliance’s track record, it doesn’t seem impossible!

Nice post
God Bless Jio. It’s a shame that they have to go through so much hardship. I wish all consumers TAKE their connection once it launches.
Again Wrong news. in our area, Vizag Jio fiber work (last mile connectivity) is going on every day. I think Jio will not entertain local cable operators due to fiber connectivity to till consumer Home or TV.
