PM Modi Is Still Most Followed Indian On Twitter; Bahubali Conquered Facebook India!

Facebook and Twitter have released their year-end special list, for 2017, wherein they have provided us a glimpse into the mood and preferences of Indians.

Around 30 crore Indians are right now on either Facebook or Twitter, discussing, sharing and liking various topics, and people. A glimpse into these conversations and talks can give us a solid idea about what India, as a whole, is thinking and doing right now.

Facebook and Twitter have released their year-end special list, for 2017, wherein they have provided us a glimpse into the mood and preferences of Indians.

At least those Indians those who are active on social media.

PM Modi Is Again Most Followed Indian On Twitter!

Once again, PM Modi has emerged as the most followed Indian on Twitter, with a total fan base of 37.5 million, which is a massive increase of 52% in year-on-year growth.

And, if we compare globally, then PM Modi is at #2 position, just behind Donald Trump who has 44.1 million followers.

However, in India, it was Virat Kohli who clinched the title of fastest and heaviest growth in Twitter followers. With 61% year-on-year growth, Virat Kohli now has 20.8 million followers, and has been ranked #10 in the top 10 list.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is at #2 with 31.6 million followers, while Shahenshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan is at #3 position with 31 million followers.

Sachin Tendulkar makes his debut in the list with 21.8 million followers, and has been ranked #8.

Deepika Padukone is the only lady in this coveted list, ranked #7.

Aamir Khan is at #6 and Salman Khan at #4.

Besides, #GST and #TripleTalaq were the hashtags which dominated most of the tweets last year.

A tweet by Carter Wilkerson : “Help me please… a man needs his nuggs” was the most retweeted tweet last year, globally.

Bahubali Conquers Facebook India!

Meanwhile, on the other spectrum at Facebook, it was Bahubali which dominated the conversations, and beat all other topics to emerge as the #1 topic.

As per Facebook India’s analysis of 2017, posts and reactions about Bahubali – The Conclusion was the most talked about topic on Facebook. Bahubali 2 collected record Rs 1600 crore in box office collection was the biggest movie of 2017.

At #2 was Jallikattu festival, which triggered a lot of controversy this year.

At #3 was India vs Pakistan Final, ICC Champions Trophy 2017; while Superfast Trains in India was at #4 position. Actor Vinod Khanna’s demise was at #5.
