Airtel Partners With SK Telecom For 5G Network In India
SK Telecom is credited with many industry firsts
Within a week of their entry into 4G VoLTE, telecom operator Bharti Airtel today announced a strategic partnership with South Korean telco major SK Telecom to bring 5G to India and build a high speed network throughout the country.
SK Telecom is known to use the latest telecom technologies and is the first in the world to bring 2G, 3G and 4G. It has partnered with Airtel to build the most advanced telecom network in the country. Both the companies will work in a partnership to evolve the 5G-standard technology in India.

Advanced Telecom Technology
Apart from 5G, both companies will also collaborate to work on some advanced telecom technologies, which include Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Internet of Things (IoT). The outcome of all these efforts by Airtel and SK Telecom will be exclusively focused on India.

The strategic partnership between the two companies is meant to build in a future ready telecom market for India. Both the firms will work together towards shaping up and enabling a telecom ecosystem for introduction of such advanced technologies in the Indian context.

Quest For Better Internet
There has been a massive quest among the Indian Telecom Operators to deliver high speed mobile internet to customers. As per recent data published by country’s telecom regulator TRAI, Jio at present is offering about double the average bandwidth delivered by its closest rivals, Airtel and Vodafone (which is around 18MB per second).
SK Telecom’s 600 mbps Speed Plan
South Korea’s SK Telecom developed the global mobile telecommunications industry, and took it to the next level by launching CDMA (2G), WCDMA (3G) and LTE-A (4G) for the first time in the world. Presently, SK Telecom offers up to 500 MBPS 4G speed with their carrier aggregation technology. Back in 2014, SK Telecom demonstrated how it will transmit data at 600 MB per second using technology provided by Nokia Networks.
