Cloud storage is on the rise, and a lot of users usually store their data in different locations on different devices. Unfortunately, the backup from every device is not standardised and not as easy as we think it should be.
Google has come up with a quick and easy solution – Backup and Sync. Available for Mac and PC users, this application replaces the existing Google Photos desktop uploader and Drive for Mac/PC.
Backup and Sync is an app for Mac and PC that backs up files and photos safely in Google Drive and Google Photos, so they’re no longer stored only on your computer and other devices. Just choose the folders you want to backup and the app will backup all those folders into the Drive.
This application works for both Google Drive and Google Photos. You can directly sync USB drives, SD cards and hard disks with Drive or Photos and interchange information.
Features of Backup and Sync
When you upload photos and videos with Backup and Sync, they will upload as “Original quality.” If you want to change how much space they use in Google Drive, you can upload them as “High quality.” This is the only other option available as of now.
In the network settings of the app, you can also modify the upload speed and the download speed. To use at a faster rate, you can click on ‘Don’t Limit’, or to use at a slower speed you can input the speed in ‘Limit to’.
Other than this, the application is extremely easy to use and you can simply select those files and folders you want to sync. This new app is an easier way to upload photos and other documents to Google drive, and download the same from the same app.
Finally, users will be able to update their Google Drive subscription from this app, which is a minor but an important technical upgrade. Overall, the app is easy to use and basically replacement of multiple functions into one. You can download it from here.
