BSNL To Relaunch Rs 498 ‘Truly Unlimited’ 3G Plan; Republic Day May Witness Bolder, Cheaper Plans From BSNL
The best thing about state-owned telecommunications company BSNL is that, they are now planning rigorously, and are being dynamic in their approach. No longer they are stuck with their decisions, as they are launching, closing and relaunching their best offers on a timely basis. This also reflects in the new subscribers they are gathering in last few months. According to TRAI monthly telecom subscriber data, BSNL has consistently been among the top 2 or 3 telecom operators in terms of new subscriber additions!
‘Truly Unlimited’ Data Plans From BSNL
As per reports, it has been revealed that BSNL will soon relaunch their ‘truly unlimited’ 3G data plan for Rs 498, once again. Along with that, several new plans would also be launched on Republic Day (January 26th), which have been described as cheaper and bolder.
In early December last year, BSNL had launched their 2nd ‘truly unlimited’ data plan for 3G users. Under this plan, users can access unlimited 3G data for 14 days, by paying Rs 498. However, within a month, this plan was shelved, most probably because of violation of their free usage plan by users.
However, BSNL has now decided to relaunch this plan, with the same price: Rs 498 and the same scheme: Unlimited 3G data for 14 days. It hasn’t been stated as to what constitutes a violation in a truly unlimited data plan.
Interestingly, only BSNL right now offers truly unlimited plans, if we leave aside Jio’s offer of free unlimited voice calls over VoLTE. Besides Rs 498 unlimited 3G data plan, the other ‘truly unlimited’ data plan which BSNL is offering is unlimited data and unlimited BSNL to BSNL calls for a month by paying Rs 1099. This plan is still active.
Cheaper, Bolder Offers On Republic Day
Meanwhile, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava has hinted that they can come up with cheaper, bolder plans on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26th. As per a Twitter conversation, Anupam has said that they may announce plans like 1-day, 2-day unlimited data packs, just like their rivals Airtel, Vodafone has announced earlier.
His Tweet:
Thanks for the suggestion we are planning to launch the same around Republic Day https://t.co/vgOqTNDjSu

Besides, Anupam also informed that BSNL will launch their 4G services in 2017-18:

This year, this is 2nd major announcement from BSNL regarding newer plans and schemes. In early January, BSNL had announced unlimited voice calls with bundled Internet for just Rs 144, for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
