We are now in the last month of the year and less than a month away from welcoming new year. December is generally the month when you will come across many articles and reports that sum up the whole year for you. Microsoft’s not-so-popular-yet search engine Bing has come up with their trending and most popular searches by Indians and here is the overview.
Note: Bing is not used by too many Indian – according to estimates less than 2 percent Indians use it. Also, I am not sure if many of the hot searches really reflect the reality. Many obvious names do not make it to the list, while some names are quite unexpected.

Top Celebrities Based on Big Search
Ok, no surprises here – Sex wins….always.
Sunny Leone was the most searched celebrity by Indians on Bing. She beat likes of Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. If you have the oomph, Indians love you!!!

- Unexpected Names: Preity Zinta???? Who remembers her?

I don’t think anyone has any doubts about this – It obviously has to be Narendra Modi that too by a fair margin. Interestingly, Jayalalitha comes in as the second most popular politician! Current Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani wraps the top 3 most popular politicians.

While one would have thought that Elections of 2014 was the most searched news, according to Bing Trends, ISIS has beaten the “Indian elections” news on Bing. Asian games was the third most popular searched news. Mangalyaan and Xi Jinping’s India visit rounded off the top 5 newsmakers of 2014.

But that’s what Bing shows..more people searched for latter than the former. Mary Kom was justifiably the third most popular athlete in India. Virat Kohli and Saina Nehwal rounded off the top 5 searches.
