Here is another offline service provider – online/mobile wallet tie-up that has taken place in last couple of days. the other being the Uber – Paytm partnership!
Café Coffee Day (CCD), India’s favorite coffee shop has announced a tie up with Oxigen Wallet – a move that will allow coffee lovers to pay for their cuppa using a mobile wallet app.
CCD which is a part of India’s largest coffee conglomerate, Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Limited (ABCTCL), has more than 1400 coffee outlets across the country and is extremely popular for their aromatic brews which tingle the nostrils. No wonder because they pick up the finest cocoa beans from more than 11,000 small growers!
Oxigen Wallet is the first p2p money transfer app in India which allows users to send money to any mobile number or bank account in India instantly!
Not only that, users will have the option to send and receive payments through social sites like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc as well. More than 3 million people in the country are already using the Oxigen Wallet app to carry out more than 1 lakh transactions every day.
The app which can be downloaded at the Android Play Store, Windows App Store and iTunes can be used to make payments at more than 3000 merchant locations (including CCD from today) and over 2000 online sites including eBay.
Using it is not too difficult either- after downloading the app, users can walk in to any of their retail outlets across the country or any of their trade partners’ stores and top-up their Oxigen Wallet with cash or use their debit card/ credit card to deposit money into it. This move is the first offline payment acceptance tie up for Oxigen Wallet which is focusing on building a strong merchant ecosystem for payments through Oxigen Wallet both online as well as offline.

With CCD outlets dotting the entire country now, the hugely popular coffee chain needs no introduction – their decision to tie up with Oxigen means a lot of publicity for the latter which is still not a known name.
The move is sure to be a hit among smartphone users. Not many people these days like to move around with loaded wallets and though it is possible to pay at CCD outlets using a credit or debit card, users will not have to worry anymore even if they have forgotten their card home- all they need is their phone to make the payment.
