Newegg Now Starts Delivering Products To India!
Geeks and gaming enthusiasts are going to be very happy to hear this news – NewEgg.com, the much loved e-commerce site, especially for PC hardware and components is now available for Indian shoppers. Along with India, Newegg has also opened online stores in Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland and Singapore with Multilingual Customer Support. We had previously reported that Newegg was soon make a foray into India as part of their global expansion plans.
If you visit Newegg.com from India, you will be automatically diverted to their Indian site where products are available in Indian currency. They already feature hundreds of products on their India site, including motherboards, memory, hard drives, processors, Solid state drives and other computer accessories.
NewEgg has mentioned that currently they have limited selection of products, but availability will continue to grow and improve in the coming months.
While NewEgg is available to Indians, they do not have any local offline presence (atleast that’s what we gather). The products you order from Newegg India site will still be shipped from United states through international shipping. We tried ordering some PC components and shipping charges were quite high for their WorldSaver standard shipping which takes about 4-6 days for orders to be delivered. Customers will also additionally need to pay taxes and duty charges.
NewEgg has certain section of fans (mostly techies) who swear by them because they offer products that generally are not available on ecommerce stores like Flipkart or Amazon. So, NewEgg’s India entry will not ruffle too many feathers, atleast as of now.
In regards to the launch, Soren Mills, Chief Marketing Officer of Newegg North America said, “We’re excited to continue bringing the Newegg service, products and deals to a wider, more global audience. We’re committed to growing Newegg’s international presence so people from all around the world can experience the stellar shopping experience our North American customers currently enjoy.”
We found one quirky thing on the site (probably because they have just launched it today) – when we clicked on main promotional banner on the site, we were diverted to their Australian site. Looks like the developers forgot to change the url on that image. So, don’t be surprised if you start seeing products having AUD (Australian dollar) price.
