Flipkart has now launched a new category called e-learning, which will sell online tests, educational media and online certification and professional courses.
Currently, around 21 sellers are listed on Flipkart in e-learning category that include online educational content offering platforms like Career Launcher, EduKart, Meritnation, Practice Guru, MTG and others. The eLearning category not only has content for higher education, but also from vendors like S. Chand whose books are quite popular with school students who are preparing for their 10th and 12th examinations across various school boards.
Commenting the launch of eLearning category, Nipun Mehra, Sr. Director – Retail at Flipkart said, “Learning is going digital. Both eBooks and digital coursework are seeing increasing adoption and Flipkart is well positioned to service the need. The availability of eBooks, certificate courses and online tests – all on one platform, will make the entire process of buying/accessing e-learning material very easy for students who form a significant part of our customer base today.”
School and College Education content is a huge market in India. Parents will go to lengths for their children to get best books and content so they could score well. While it was books earlier, internet has opened up a whole new avenue for researching great educational content. With launch of eLearning category, Flipkart wants to cash in on precisely this aspect.
Now, students and parents will not have to go to different sites and spend hours finding the right educational content. They can just search on Flipkart and get what they want. While the current offerings may be limited, majority of remaining ones are sure to partner with Flipkart.
