Reliance Brings One India One Rate Plan, No Distinction Between Local, STD & Roaming
Reliance Communication has once again unleashed a tariff war across the Indian telecommunication industry with the launch of “One Inda One Rate” plan. As per this new initiative, there would be no more roaming charges for Reliance customers all over India – they can make and receive calls as per their local tariff plan.
Telecom experts are claiming that this new free roaming feature has been introduced to lure the high worth corporate and SME customers, who are travelling all over the country for business related purposes. Both pre-paid and post-paid accounts would be covered under this new scheme.
Gurdeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Business, Reliance Communications Limited, said, “The One India, One Rate Plans will help us attract customers in the high-value Corporate and SME roaming segments. RCOM’s One India, One Rate Plans will help us break down the tariff barriers and extend unprecedented benefits to our roaming customers,”
Hence, for Reliance customers, there would be now no difference between local, STD and roaming tariffs. Say a person who has activated his Reliance mobile in Mumbai is travelling to Delhi. He can make calls to anywhere in the country based on his local tariff plan of Mumbai, even if he is in Delhi.
The following are the plans and tariffs announced under One India One Rate Plans:
Prepaid Mobile: Plans start from Rs 45 wherein the customer will be charged flat 40 paisa per minute for local, STD outgoing calls, from anywhere in the country. Incoming calls on roaming would be absolutely free.
Post-Paid Mobile: There are two plans to choose from; under Rs 350 plan, customers can get 700 minutes of outgoing calls to local and STD numbers, all over India, beyond which every call would be charged 40 paisa per minute.
Additionally, the customer will also receive 200 minutes free incoming calls, 1 GB data and 100 SMSes. Under Rs 599 plan, the customer can get 1200 minutes of free outgoing calls to local and STD numbers, beyond which every minute would be charges 30 paisa. 2 GB data and 100 SMSes are included in the plan.
MTNL users are already receiving free roaming services after ex-Union Minister Kapil Sibal announced “One Nation One Rate” plan earlier this year. But this special plan was valid only for MTNL customers based in New Delhi and Mumbai, although TRAI had earlier said that it is not possible to provide free roaming to all mobile users.
