The 4G wave is all set to sweep India, and fortunately, it’s happening faster than we had anticipated.
After Airtel’s 4G service in Ludhiana, Reliance Jio has announced that it has started offering free WiFi Hotspots in Gujarat, which is powered by 4G Internet speed. For some, it is like a dream coming true!
As of now, this free service has been launched in 8 locations in Ahmedabad, 9 locations in Baroda and Surat; and would be available free for 72 hours. Once this time duration is consumed, users will have to recharge or choose a plan which would be soon announced.
As per official statements provided by Reliance Jio officials, around 55,000 unique devices have been provided for this unique 4G enabled free WiFi service.
Reliance Jio official statement said, “High speed internet trials have been provided to over 55,000 unique devices since the launch. Users are provided 72 hours of free usage which can be extended through reactivation.”
In the year 2010, Reliance had won bids for pan-India airwaves for providing high speed Internet. In fact, Reliance was the only telecom company to have won 20 MHz in the 2300 MHz band for Rs 13,000 crore. Services based on this spectrum would now be introduced. Additionally, Reliance Jio also purchased 4G spectrum by paying Rs 11,000 crore in February, 2014.
The statement further said, “RJIL plans to provide seamless 4G services using FDD LTE on 1800 Mhz and TDD LTE on 2300 Mhz through an integrated ecosystem, aims to provide unparalleled high quality access to innovative and empowering digital content, applications and services,”
Reliance has made up a solid plan to roll out high speed 4G enabled Internet services across the country, and this trail offer of free Wi-Fi spots in Gujarat is just the beginning. As per the insider sources, during the last 4 years, Reliance has teamed up with some top notch content providers such as Walt Disney, Extramarks Education, and Network18 in order to populate their customer’s high speed powered devices.
Besides 4G plans of Reliance, they are also rolling out Internet connectivity via high speed optic fiber in over 900 cities all across the country. In a separate statement, the company said, “In addition to 4G wireless services, RJIL (Reliance Jio Infocomm) is rolling out high speed internet services via FTTx in over 900 cities/towns. The high speed fibre connectivity will enable RJIL to provide a wide gamut of digital services across various sectors,”
In order to propel the new age economy based on digital transactions and to encourage education and learning based on Internet, it is very important to have a nationwide network of high speed internet access, which is affordable and available for everyone. It seems Reliance is going in the right direction for the implementation of the same.
