On its journey from Kolkata to Delhi, the train will cover various well-known pilgrimage and tourist destinations such as Gaya and Varanasi, the Bandhavgarh forests, Khajuraho, Agra and Gwalior. The train has five deluxe cabins, six junior suites, two suites and one grand presidential suite.
The train has two fine dining restaurants with 42 person seating capacity at a time. For the lovers of wines, the royal train also serves the choicest collection of beverages as a complimentary to the dinner. The super deluxe coaches of this train are well-equipped with complimentary sightseeing kits like bottle coolers, pit hats and shoe uppers.
The Maharaja Express, the train studded with the comfort matching international standards, has 4 scheduled journey plans with journey routes as Mumbai to Delhi (Princely India), Delhi to Mumbai (Royal India), Delhi to Kolkata (Classical India) and the one with the route discussed above as Kolkata to Delhi (Celestial India).
