ChatGPT, the chatbot developed by OpenAI is now adding a new feature, which will allow users to delete data fed into it.
For this, OpenAI has now added new “memory” controls.
Read on to find out all the details!
ChatGPT To Allow Users To “Forget” Data
In fact, a limited number of ChatGPT users—both free and paid—are participating in the feature test and the company plans to roll it out at some point in the future.
As per OpenAI’s blog post, “ChatGPT can now carry what it learns between chats, allowing it to provide more relevant responses … As you chat with ChatGPT, you can ask it to remember something specific or let it pick up details itself. ChatGPT’s memory will get better the more you use it and you’ll start to notice the improvements over time.”
As per reports, in the future, OpenAI intends to expand the use of the memory feature. Users will be able to view the details that ChatGPT remembers or ask it to remember details.
The memory feature of ChatGPT is designed to enhance user interactions. Users have the choice not to give OpenAI access to their memories.
OpenAI Takes Precautions Not To Retain Private Information
Additionally, OpenAI takes precautions to guarantee that ChatGPT doesn’t intentionally retain private information.
The memory of ChatGPT changes with conversations and gains knowledge over time. Moreover, the memory feature attempts to solve privacy issues and improve ChatGPT’s usefulness.
Additionally, with time, ChatGPT’s memory enables it to deliver more pertinent answers. It is possible for users to disable ChatGPT’s memory.
However, recollections are not associated with particular discussions and are not disclosed to GPT developers. The memories of ChatGPT are manageable by users, who can see, remove, or clear them.
OpenAI has identified both private and professional settings as possible uses for ChatGPT’s memory. The company has acknowledged privacy concerns with ChatGPT’s memory feature.
OpenAI is also introducing the Temporary Chat feature in order to address privacy. Through the Temporary Chat feature, users will be able to chat without requiring ChatGPT to access past memories.
However, only selected free and subscription users will be able to initially access Temporary Chat. For security purposes, OpenAI may keep track of Temporary Chat conversations for a maximum of 30 days.
