The Odisha government has started providing free online coaching to help students prepare for national examinations like NEET and JEE. The classes are being conducted via virtual mode in all Plus-II government, non-government and aided colleges across the state.
Coaching Infrastructure and Logistics
The colleges have set up smart TVs and interactive panels to effectively impart the video-based coaching. Nodal officers will update the Higher Secondary Education Directorate daily on student attendance. Colleges have also appointed mentor teachers to assist students during the e-coaching. Further, many higher secondary schools have received smart classroom grants from the state’s CM-SA scheme.
Student and College Reactions
Many have welcomed the initiative as it will make expensive private coaching accessible to economically weaker students. As per BJB Higher Secondary School, 98 and 126 students have enrolled for the JEE and NEET coaching respectively in their college. The coaching sessions have started and schools are looking to set up more smart classrooms seeing the encouraging response.
Ranjan Kumar Bal, Chairman of BJB School said, “It’s a noble government initiative to provide free coaching to aspiring doctors and engineers. Students earlier had to spend heavily on private coaching. Seeing the response, we plan to set up one more smart classroom soon.”
The online coaching aims to enhance the competitive readiness of students for exams like JEE and NEET at no cost.
