The ‘Annual Digital Skills Report FY24’ by Quess Corp. highlights the notable expansion of the tech job market in India, which is attributed to a surge in demand for particular skill sets.

Expertise in five key areas is required for more than two-thirds (66%) of all IT jobs: development, ERP, testing, design and engineering, and networking.

Digital Skills in Demand in 2024

Demand for emerging technologies is rising significantly, including data analytics, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Because cloud computing is more affordable and scalable, there is a greater need for cloud engineers, architects, and security experts.

As more companies move their operations and data to the cloud, there is a growing demand for cybersecurity specialists who can find security flaws and put protection measures in place.

The Cyber Security Bill, which addresses the changing digital landscape, highlights the need for cybersecurity experts even more.

Organizations using data to gather insights are witnessing an incredible development in data analytics, which is driving demand for data scientists, analysts, and business intelligence specialists.

Tech Expertise Growing Significantly

The need for tech expertise is growing significantly across industries, including banking, automotive, consulting, and product development, in addition to fundamental computer capabilities. Conventional industries such as aerospace and automotive are embracing technology and diversifying into semiconductor, electronics, and electrical industries.

The retail industry is transforming technologically, and in order to improve consumer experiences and streamline operations, there is a growing need for tech talent with expertise in digital marketing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

The West, North, and East regions also contribute to hiring demands in the tech sector, with Bengaluru and Chennai being the main hubs. Bengaluru, the National Capital Region (NCR), and Hyderabad hold a combined 65% of the leasing activity in the commercial real estate market for office space.

According to the research, when it comes to development by area, Bengaluru and Chennai receive an astounding 68% of hiring requests, with the West (16%), North (8%), and East (2%), following.

The research emphasizes how crucial IT skills are to fostering innovation and competitiveness in India’s many industries. The requirement for upskilling and reskilling on a constant basis to fulfill market demands is highlighted by the demand for qualified personnel in developing technologies.

Businesses are using technology to improve consumer experiences, streamline operations, and obtain a competitive advantage.
