According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is allegedly developing a new status update notification feature.
The app, which is owned by Meta, is thinking of adding other capabilities to alert users to status updates, maybe including alerts for other activities.
Whatsapp To Introduce New Update: Status Update Notification
The feature will be added to a later WhatsApp update and is presently undergoing beta testing. The purpose of the new feature is to notify users when contacts post new, unconfirmed status updates.
There is conjecture regarding the precise conditions under which these alerts occur; one possibility is that a user gets notified of a status update that they haven’t yet seen.
WhatsApp prioritizes alerts for unconfirmed status updates from favored contacts, highlighting the value of connections and keeping track of contacts’ actions. WhatsApp prioritizes alerts in an effort to give users more relevant and up-to-date status updates.
As per the report, “WhatsApp might prioritize notifying users about unseen status updates from their favorite contacts, enhancing the significance of these relationships and the importance of staying updated with their activities. By prioritizing notifications from favorite contacts, WhatsApp has the potential to improve the relevance and timeliness of status updates.”
Whatsapp Suspends 76 Million Accounts in India
WhatsApp revealed in February that there had been more than 76 million “account suspensions” in India, setting a new record. These actions are a part of WhatsApp’s attempts to adhere to India’s 2021 IT Rules and fight fraud on its network.
In India, between February 1st and February 29th, 7,628,000 WhatsApp accounts were blocked, with 1,424,000 accounts having been “actively suspended” prior to user notifications.
In accordance with the Information Technology (Media Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct) Guidelines, 2021, WhatsApp reports on its monthly activities pertaining to the removal of fraudulent accounts.
The significant amount of account suspensions highlights WhatsApp’s dedication to providing its customers with a safe and reliable platform. Protecting users’ security and privacy on WhatsApp requires implementing fraud prevention mechanisms, particularly in areas like India where user activity is significant.
Suspensions of user accounts are a component of WhatsApp’s larger plan to tackle spam, false information, and other negative activities on the network. WhatsApp faces particular difficulties because of India’s regulatory environment, which necessitates constant adaptations and compliance measures.
