When all the technology companies are adopting AI, Samsung is not far behind as it has announced its own generative AI model, called Gauss recently.

Samsung Has Already Developed Its Own Generative AI Called Gauss: Galaxy S24 Will Be Powered By This AI Platform

Samsung Unveiled Samsung Gauss

Interestingly, just a few days after OpenAI’s developer event, Samsung unveiled its own generative AI model, Samsung Gauss, at the Samsung AI Forum 2023.

Furthermore, this on-device AI model consists of three tools – Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image – each part tailored for its specific task.

Here, Samsung Gauss Language is a generative language model that can compose emails, summarize documents, and translate content.

Moreover, it is a large language model that can understand human language and answer questions like ChatGPT.

This will further help in increasing productivity in several ways.

The phone maker is planning to incorporate the large language model into its devices like phones, laptops and tablets to make the company’s smart devices a bit smarter.

Besides this, it can also help in enabling smarter device control such as Google Home or Amazon Alexa.

Next comes the Samsung Gauss Code which uses the coding assistant code further allowing developers to code easily and quickly, perform code description and test case generation.

Here, the idea is that Samsung Gauss Code could help developers write code quickly.

According to Samsung, the AI model for code will support “code description and test case generation through an interactive interface.”

In the case of Samsung Gauss Image, it is a generative image model that can create and edit images, change their style, and even convert low-res images to high-res.

Boasting Productivity

The name Samsung Gauss is given in honor of Carl Friedrich Gauss – the legendary mathematician who established the normal distribution theory (the Gaussian process) – thought to be the backbone to AI.

Moving ahead, it would be an integral part of the Galaxy S24 series, when they launch in January 2024.

In the meantime, Gauss is already used by Samsung employees for boosting productivity, according to the company.

Later on, Samsung plans to make Samsung Gauss available to the public users.

So far, the timeline is not disclosed by the company but, Samsung aims to release Galaxy S24 based on its Generative AI model as early as 2024, as per the media reports.

Samsung has set up an AI Red Team that monitors security and privacy issues from data collection to AI development.

This way it ensures the safety of AI use based on the principles of AI ethics.
