Air India Subsidiaries, Air India Express and AirAsia India, Switch To a Single Website
Air India Express and AirAsia India, two Air India subsidiary airlines, switched to a single website, reservations platform, and customer service channels on Tuesday. According to a statement from the company, travelers will now be able to manage their reservations and check in for both local and international flights on the combined website, Airindiaexpress.com.
The system merger occurs three months after both AirAsia India and Air India Express were fully acquired and subsidiarized under Air India, five months after those two airlines.
According to Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson, the integration of the main reservation and customer-facing systems of Air India Express and AirAsia India is a crucial milestone in the Air India Group’s transformation path.
He stated, “This new Air India Express, operating both domestically and internationally using systems optimised for low-cost airlines, gives the Group a much stronger LCC platform. Together with the Group’s recent, benchmark-setting aircraft order, this sets the scene for us to realise many new opportunities for customers, employees and Indian aviation.”
System Mergers Occur After Three-Five Months After Entities Merging
This system merger occurs three months after the CEO of both AirAsia India and Air India Express was combined, five months after AirAsia India was fully acquired and subsidiarized under Air India. The airlines will keep merging internal systems, and eventually their regulatory and air operating permissions.
While Air India Express serves 14 foreign locations from 19 Indian cities, AirAsia India serves 19 domestic destinations.
According to Wilson, the combination of Air India Express and Air India will result in greater economies of scale, broader adoption of each airline’s best practices, systems, and routes, and favourable effects on revenue, costs, and operations.
The new Air India Express will prioritise markets that are interested in leisure activities and are price conscious while enhancing connectivity between important domestic cities and Air India’s quickly growing international network. The airline and its customers will profit greatly from this transfer, which was mostly accomplished by Air India Express moving to AirAsia India’s systems.
