AI is the future! This field of computer science is in itself revolutionary and is also ready to become the main component of various emerging technologies like big data, robotics, and IoT. It will continue to act as a technological innovator in the coming years.

No More Fake Sick Leaves! Artificial Intelligence Will Detect Fake Sick Leaves In Offices

Companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon are spending billions of dollars on AI products and services annually, donating money to universities making AI a more prominent part of their curricula.

While there is no sector or industry which has remained untouched by its use as it has various applications across industries. However, one report is particularly doing the rounds in social media and it is so viral that has become a force to be reckon with.

Cold Detection AI Technology!

As per the report, researchers have developed the technology that can detect if a person is suffering from a cold or not, by analysing the tone of their voice.

As we might have noticed by our very own experiences that when someone is down with cold or cold like illnesses, due to the pathogens a person’s voice is affected.

Over the course of illness, the person’s voice remains to be coarse. Another explanation behind the changed tone is the fact that frequent coughing and sneezing affects the throat and hence makes the voice coarser.

As many as vocal tics of 630 people were analysed, out of whom 111 had a common cold. Harmonics were studied to understand the vocal pattern of an individual. Harmonics are nothing but the vocal rhythms in human speech.

The participants were asked to count from 1 to 40, discuss their weekend plan and recit “The North Wind and the Sun”.

The AI, as per the reports, was 70% accurate in identifying the cold from the voice.

All of this is fine and yes we agree that AI is doing really great when it comes to the identification and separation of those who suffer from the cold from those who do not. But what is the fuss all about and how does it matters to a commoner.

A Game Changer in Health Sector

Well, if you have ever faked fever to derelict the duty and applied for sick leaves, then this can be a matter of concern as this AI can catch you at it!

This study and development can be a game changer in the health sector. This cold detection technology from the voice of an individual can help predict if one is having a cold or not without consulting a doctor!

And I can understand the mixed feelings that you have while reading the story!

Appreciation as well as apprehension at the same time. But it is what it is, we will have to wait to see how this shapes up.

Until then…
