Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a new sub-4-metre SUV which shall be placed below Brezza and Fronx in the brand’s product line. This is the automaker’s attempt to further bolster its position in the Indian automobile space, which currently is quiet competitive. This new car shall be priced relatively low and be launched to lock horns with the popular veterans like Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter.

Maruti Suzuki’s New Micro SUV

Codenamed as Y43, this forthcoming micro SUV is slated to debut in late 2026. Though the specific details about the Y43 remain undisclosed, it is speculated by the industry experts that it shall feature a rather rugged stance and tall height, imparting it a proper SUV feel and making it a viable product for a broad customer base.

Cited to be plonked with Maruti Suzuki’s recently developed Z-Series, 3-cylinder, petrol engine, which shall first be seen in the new-generation Swift hatchback.

Compliant with BS6 emissions standards as well as CAFÉ Phase 2 norms, this engine would offer an optimal blend of fuel efficiency and performance. Both, manual and automatic transmission options are said to be available with it.

Maruti Suzuki’s key focus currently is the sub-four-meter SUV market. Notably, this segment has crossed the million-unit mark.

Priced below Jimny, Brezza, and Fronx in the compact SUV segment, Y43 shall join them in the brand lineup. Coupled with Maruti brand and after-sales support, it shall be positioned as a great choice for those whose vehicular purchase fits in the “affordable SUV” category.

Maruti Suzuki’s Vision 3.0

In coming months, the carmaker is also rolling up its sleeves to launch the new-gen Swift. There shall be a significant design overhaul in the upcoming hatchback and the same includes a upmarket interior, and the introduction of the Z-Series engine which we earlier mentioned shall be also available in the upcoming Y43.

The Indian version of the car would differ from its Japanese counterpart, since it might be missing out on advanced features like ADAS tech and a CVT gearbox.

With the automakers vision 3.0 plan, the company aims to achieve the below plans:
1. Double the production capacity to 4 million units

2. Tripling Exports from India

3. Expanding the current portfolio of 17 to 28

Next 3 to 4 years are action packed since they will see introduction of eight new models which shall be plonked with various powertrains, including EVs, hybrids, petrol, CNG, flex-fuel, and ethanol-powered cars.
