In a latest update, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) Department has decided to take action against the American fast food chain, McDonald’s outlet at Noida Sector 18 and a branch of the Theobroma bakery in Sector 104, following the complaints that two customers “fell ill” after consuming food at the eateries.

Investigation Against McDonald's, Theobroma After Customers Fall Ill

How Did This Happen?

It appears that one customer had fries and a burger at McDonald’s while in the second complaint, the person has consumed an allegedly stale pineapple cake ordered from the Theobroma outlet, under this development.

These complaints were filed at the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s online Food Safety Connect Portal, as per the media report.

Following the incident, a team of the FSDA in Gautam Buddh Nagar visited the McDonald’s outlet in Noida Sector 18 in order to collect the samples upon receiving the complaint from the customer, said the officials as per the media report.

Next, the team immediately took action and samples of palm oil, cheese and mayonnaise were collected from the outlet, said Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Archana Dheeran, while speaking to the media on Monday.

Further adding, “The customer fell ill after consuming aloo tikki and french fries. We have taken action in this regard.”

Awaited Laboratory Results

They are expecting the report of the samples to come within 15 days to a month, she said.

“We received a complaint that the customer fell ill after consuming a stale pineapple cake ordered from the outlet” Dheeran said regarding the other complaint related to the Theobroma bakery incident.

For this, Dheeran assured, “The complainant also said that the icing of the cake was sour. We have taken a sample of the cake as well and sent it to the laboratory.”

Now, the next move depends on the test reports.

If the samples fail in the test report, a case is then registered against the accused outlet, as per the information provided by the official.

Interestingly, earlier media reported that the Uttar Pradesh FDA’s action came after orders by the District Magistrate (DM) to ensure the quality of food and beverages sold at outlets in the state.

Further the report highlighted the team which conducted the raid having Food Safety Officers Ram Naresh, Mukesh Kumar, Vijay Bahadur Patel, and others.
