Govt Mails In Hindi Script? Within 2 Years, Central Govt IT System Will Support Mails In Hindi!

Hindi to be Made Available Across All IT Systems

Ministry of Electronics and IT Additional Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar said while speaking at the Universal Acceptance (UA) Day that the work has started to make 15 ministry’s website UA-compliant and content on them is being made available in Hindi.

He said that “Resolver to facilitate e-mail communications in local language script will be done over a period of 2 years. Initially it will support Hindi script and later other languages will be added”.

He also said that in order to provide content in the local languages, the centre is encouraging the state governments.

Universal Acceptance has been supported by the Global internet body ICANN in order to address issues around language barriers that check people from connecting to the internet.

The non-English speaking individuals face difficulty in the English language dominated internet world.

ICANN, VP, Stakeholder Engagement, and Managing Director for Asia Pacific Jia-Rong Low said at the event that big technology companies like Google, Microsoft have come on board to support UA and there is a need for local companies to adopt it as they are closer to the users. State-owned National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) CEO A K Jain said that people can now book domain name in all Indian language scripts and the Centre has started to adopt them.

Benefits of Choosing Hindi As Localization Language

As per a survey, nearly 320.57 million users were recorded using mobile internet in the year 2016 which was predicted to be 492.68 million by the end of 2022.

The Indian market holds great domestic as well as international business potential. It can be ideal to choose Hindi for content localization.

Since Hindi is most preferred language in India, people shall find it easier to connect when the content is delivered in Hindi. It helps the users to understand what is written as a product description. The easier it becomes, the better a website will come out in the eyes of common users.
