Government Backs Nationwide E20 Rollout
The Central government has reiterated that there are no plans to reintroduce ethanol-free petrol, reaffirming its commitment to E20 fuel as the standard petrol across the country. The clarification was made in Parliament, where the government described E20 as a cleaner, safer and technologically advanced fuel that supports India’s long-term energy and environmental goals.
The government also confirmed that there is currently no proposal to increase ethanol blending beyond 20%.
E20 Considered Safe For Vehicles

Any future decision on increasing ethanol content beyond E20, the government said, will be based on scientific studies and consultations with stakeholders.
