In its Android app, Google is thinking of getting rid of the bottom search button. Instead, the app’s primary search bar at the top will remain.

Users may easily search within the Discover area or saved collections using the bottom search bar.

Google Removes Dedicated Search Button For Android Users

The official explanation for the modification is unclear.

Google To Get Rid Of Bottom Search Button

Data on user engagement may indicate that people weren’t using the bottom search button very often.

Android Police was the source of the first report regarding the modification.

In order to match the appearance of the Google app, Google unveiled a new Search tab in the Play Store last month.

The search tab’s removal is in line with current UI adjustments.

For now, only the Google app for Android version 15.32.37.28.arm64 is affected by the modification.

It’s unclear if the app’s final build will incorporate this UI modification.

The modifications may be a part of larger enhancements that Google is rolling out as it expands the capabilities of its AI-powered Gemini search engine.

Assembly Debug, a tipster, discovered the update via Android Headline.

Google Experimenting With Different Layouts

According to the tipster, Google is experimenting with a few different layouts, none of which have the bottom search bar.

No official confirmation or explanation of the bottom search bar’s disappearance has come from Google.

User interaction data and behavior analysis are apparently the foundation for the UI modifications.

Other areas of the Google app will continue to have access to the search bar.

It is quite likely that the upgrade will not have any impact on the functionality of the search widget.

This modification follows a major redesign of the Play Store that inserted a search tab at the bottom in place of the top search bar.

It has been reported that Google has limited the customisation possibilities available for the Android search bar widget.

Prior to being made widely available, the restrictions on widget modification will initially be applied to Pixel and Samsung smartphones.
