The richest man in India and Asia, the Chairman and founder of the multinational conglomerate Adani Group has been witnessing a tremendous decline in his wealth following the US-based activist investor group Hindenburg Research’s report alleging the conglomerate giant to be involved in fraudulent activities.
The continuous wealth erosion has brought Gautam Adani’s ranking down in the past few sessions, and now he lies no longer among the top 3 or even top 10 richest billionaires in the world.
In only three days, the Indian business tycoon has lost over $30 billion wealth, sliding to the eleventh position on the rich list, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
On Jan 26, 2023, Trak.in had reported that Gautam Adani’s ranking on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index slipped to the fourth position from the third richest man in the world.
So far in the calendar year 2023, the Ahmedabad-based businessman has witnessed the biggest wealth loss, out of all the billionaires in the world’s top 500 richest people.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Gautam Adani has lost a total wealth of more than $36 billion or $36.1 billion to be exact so far this year in January.
His net worth now stands at $84.4 billion, only one position ahead of the Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani.
Mukesh Ambani ranks 12th on Bloomberg’s rich people list, with a net worth of $82.2 billion as of today. Interestingly, while Adani’s net worth fell by $8.21 billion in the most recent trading session, Mukesh Ambani’s wealth surged by $809 million, shedding $4.96 billion so far in the year, which is minute compared to Adani’s wealth loss.
At present, Bernard Arnault remains the richest person on earth with a total net worth of $189 billion, followed by the founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk, flaunting a wealth of $160 billion and the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos with a net worth of $124 billion.
