Swiggy, one of India’s leading food and quick commerce delivery platforms, has launched an innovative ‘incognito mode’ to enable users to place discreet orders. This new feature is available on both Swiggy Food and Instamart, ensuring that purchases remain private and are automatically hidden from the order history after a brief visibility window.
Prioritizing User Privacy
The incognito mode addresses the growing need for privacy in shared accounts, where certain purchases—like a surprise gift or personal wellness items—may not be intended for others to see. Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace, emphasized the importance of offering users a way to maintain confidentiality in their transactions. “Whether ordering a meal or making a personal purchase, this feature guarantees privacy,” Kapoor stated.
The feature is especially helpful when users want to keep surprise orders, such as a birthday cake or anniversary gift, under wraps. For more personal or sensitive purchases, such as wellness products from Swiggy Instamart, incognito mode adds an extra layer of discretion.
How Incognito Mode Works
To activate incognito mode, users can toggle the feature on when adding items to their cart. Once enabled, the order remains visible for three hours after delivery to address any issues that may arise. After this window, the order is automatically hidden from the history, safeguarding the user’s privacy.
Enhancing User Engagement
Currently, 10% of Swiggy users have access to the incognito mode, with plans for a full rollout soon. This feature is one of several updates aimed at improving user convenience and engagement. Swiggy has also introduced functionalities like group ordering, eat lists, explore mode, reordering, and similar carts, further enhancing the overall customer experience on its platform.
With its focus on privacy and user engagement, Swiggy continues to evolve, offering services that cater to the modern consumer’s need for discretion and convenience.
