Households across India will have to pay more for cooking gas as the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹29 per cylinder. The revised rates came into effect on June 7, marking the second hike in domestic LPG prices within the last three months. The increase comes amid continued pressure on global energy markets and rising fuel costs.

LPG Cylinder Now Costs ₹942 in Delhi

Following the latest revision, the price of a standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from ₹913 to ₹942. Similar increases have been implemented across the country, although the final retail price may vary slightly depending on local taxes and transportation costs.

The price revision affects millions of households that rely on LPG as their primary cooking fuel and is expected to put additional pressure on monthly household budgets.

Second LPG Price Increase in Three Months

This is the second increase in domestic LPG prices since March 2026. Earlier, cooking gas prices were raised by ₹60 per cylinder following disruptions in global energy supplies and rising international fuel prices. The latest hike further adds to the financial burden on consumers.

Industry sources indicate that oil marketing companies continue to face losses on domestic LPG sales. While the government has attempted to shield consumers from the full impact of rising international energy costs, a portion of those costs is now being passed on through higher retail prices.

Global Energy Markets Continue to Influence Prices

The recent increase highlights India’s continued dependence on global energy markets. Rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia and fluctuations in international fuel prices have affected the cost of imported LPG and other petroleum products. Since India imports a significant portion of its LPG requirements, domestic prices remain vulnerable to global market developments.

Analysts believe that unless global energy prices stabilize, consumers could continue to see volatility in fuel prices in the coming months.

Impact on Consumers

For middle-class and lower-income households, repeated LPG price hikes can significantly affect monthly budgets. Cooking gas remains an essential household commodity, and even modest price increases can have a noticeable impact when combined with rising food and utility costs.

Summary

Domestic LPG prices have been increased by ₹29 per 14.2-kg cylinder, taking the price in Delhi to ₹942 from ₹913. The revision, effective from June 7, is the second hike in three months and has been linked to rising global energy costs and continued pressure on oil companies. The increase is expected to impact household budgets across India.
