Under the proposal, several leaders currently using Mahindra Scorpio-N SUVs will receive new Toyota Innova Crysta vehicles, with civic officials citing improved comfort and practicality.

Who Will Get The New Vehicles?
According to the proposal, the upgraded vehicles will be allotted to the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, and the chairpersons of BMC’s statutory committees.
The move comes shortly after Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi had sought official accommodation closer to the BMC headquarters, citing long travel time from Dahisar to South Mumbai due to heavy traffic. Although that request was not accepted, the civic administration has now proposed upgrading the official vehicle fleet used by senior elected representatives.
Why Is BMC Switching To Innova Crysta?
Officials believe the Toyota Innova Crysta offers greater passenger comfort, better ride quality and improved space compared to the Scorpio-N, particularly for leaders who spend several hours travelling across Mumbai for official work.
The Innova Crysta is also widely used by government departments across India because of its reliability, spacious cabin and lower maintenance requirements during long-term official use.
The proposal is expected to be placed before the Municipal Commissioner for approval.

The total estimated cost of the vehicle upgrade is around ₹1.5 crore, covering the replacement of vehicles allocated to six senior civic office-bearers.
