State Bank of India has advised customers to complete important banking transactions before September 28, as bank employees’ unions have proposed a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30.

The proposed strike could affect branch operations across the country, particularly services that require employees, physical documents or in-person assistance. SBI has therefore asked customers to plan their important banking work in advance.
SBI Issues Advisory Ahead Of Three-Day Strike
The United Forum of Bank Unions has proposed a nationwide strike from September 28 to September 30, 2026.
SBI has said it is making efforts to ensure essential banking services continue during the strike. However, the bank has warned that branch operations could be affected depending on employee participation.
Customers who have pending branch-related work have therefore been advised not to wait until the strike dates.
Complete Important Banking Work In Advance
SBI has specifically asked customers to complete important banking transactions before the strike begins.
This is particularly relevant for services that require physical visits to a branch, employee assistance or document verification.
Customers dealing with pending paperwork, certain cheque-related services or other branch-dependent processes could face delays if branch operations are disrupted.
ATMs And ADWMs To Remain Useful
Customers who need cash during the strike period can use SBI’s ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines, or ADWMs.
These facilities can help customers withdraw cash and access other available services without visiting a branch.
SBI has also suggested that customers use Customer Service Points, or CSPs, for banking services available through these outlets.
UPI, YONO And Internet Banking Can Be Used
Routine digital banking services are expected to remain available.
SBI has advised customers to use Internet Banking, YONO, mobile banking and UPI for transactions that can be completed digitally.
These channels can be used for activities such as fund transfers, bill payments and other routine banking requirements without visiting a physical branch.
However, customers should remember that digital channels cannot replace every branch-based service.
Five Consecutive Days Of Limited Branch Access
The timing of the proposed strike could make the disruption particularly important for customers.
September 26 and 27 are Saturday and Sunday, followed by the proposed strike on September 28, 29 and 30.
As a result, customers could potentially face five consecutive days without normal weekday branch access, although the first two days are regular weekend holidays.
Anyone who needs branch-based banking services should therefore consider completing the work before the weekend.
More Strike Action Planned In October
The September strike is also part of a wider programme announced by the United Forum of Bank Unions.
The union forum has also announced a continuous strike from October 26 as part of its ongoing demands.
For SBI customers, the immediate priority is the proposed September 28-30 strike. Planning important branch transactions in advance can help avoid delays if branch operations are affected.
Summary
SBI has advised customers to complete important banking transactions before the proposed nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30. Customers can use ATMs, ADWMs, Customer Service Points, Internet Banking, YONO, mobile banking and UPI for available services. With September 26 and 27 falling on the weekend, customers could face five consecutive days of limited normal branch access.
