Air India Rolls Out AI-Based Live Tracking Of Checked-In Luggage

Key Features of AEYE Vision

The AEYE Vision feature is powered by advanced AI-based computer vision technology, which utilizes algorithms to analyze images and videos. By scanning a code on their ticket, boarding pass, or baggage tag, passengers can access a range of real-time trip updates, including:

  • Baggage Status: Passengers can monitor the status of their checked-in luggage, receiving notifications when their bags are loaded onto the aircraft, unloaded, and ready for pick-up at the baggage claim.
  • Flight Details and Boarding Passes: The app provides up-to-date information on flight schedules and allows easy access to boarding passes.
  • Meal Options: Passengers can view and select meal preferences directly through the app, ensuring a seamless in-flight experience.

Future Enhancements

Air India is not stopping at baggage tracking. The airline has announced plans to introduce several additional features to its mobile app in the coming months. These include:

  • Baggage Dimension Check: This feature will enable passengers to measure their baggage dimensions to ensure compliance with airline regulations.
  • Passport Scan: A convenient option for scanning and storing passport details within the app for quick access during travel.
  • Augmented Reality-Based Destination Details: Passengers will soon be able to explore their destination using augmented reality, providing a richer, more immersive travel experience.
  • Image-Based Destination Search: This feature will allow users to search for destinations by uploading images, making trip planning easier and more intuitive.

Revolutionizing the Passenger Experience

According to Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Air India, the integration of modern computer vision technologies has the potential to significantly enhance the user experience by reducing the need for manual data entry. The AEYE Vision feature is a testament to Air India’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve customer service and streamline travel processes.

With these innovations, Air India is set to redefine how passengers interact with their travel journey, making it more convenient, efficient, and enjoyable.
