In its recent Adobe MAX 2024 keynote, Adobe effectively highlighted the advancements that the company has made in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) within creative workflows, emphasizing the reliability of its Firefly AI model, which has yet to make significant errors. Notably, this keeps Adobe ahead of its competitors like OpenAI and Meta.

Adobe MAX Unveils Innovative Features and Truecaller Enhances User Verification

New features for its suite of applications were unveiled during the Adobe MAX. Notably, the Adobe Adaptive profile for Lightroom stood out. This AI-driven feature offers predefined adjustments tailored to individual images, differentiating itself from existing profiles by analysing each photo to optimize tones and colours.

While the results are promising, the Adaptive profile currently supports only raw files, limiting its usefulness for photographers who primarily use JPEG or other formats.

Still in beta though, another exciting announcement by the company was the Generative Extend feature in Premiere Pro. Allowing the users to fill gaps in footage and create smoother transitions by extending video and audio clips, this tool works wonders. Though, the current capabilities of the same are limited to specific resolutions and frame rates.

Parallely, there is another innovative account name verification system that is developed in India, True caller is launching a system which shall use UPI. Aiming to enhance the accuracy of user profiles by linking them to verified banking information, potentially improving caller ID results.

Global PC Market Faces Decline Amid Economic Challenges and Rapid Refresh Cycles

On the flipside, due to the overall global economic challenges, there are growing concerns in the global PC market, as Gartner is reporting a 1.3% decline in shipments for Q3 2024.

The market is currently led by Lenovo, followed by HP. Notably, the demand for Windows PCs remains sluggish.

This moves us to our next question, wherein the tech industry should ask itself whether an upgrade is pertinent, especially in the light of companies continuing to release numerous devices annually. Due to the short refresh cycles, true innovation is eclipsed and hence a reconsideration of the same by tech industry is important.
