SUV market in India has been expanding like anything, the latest launches shall include new 7-seater this year.

Although the 5 seater remains a preference, 7-seaters are now gaining more traction than before.

There are quite a few models that are touted for release in upcoming months.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Expected to incorporate design updates reminiscent of the latest Creta generation, including a split headlamp setup and refreshed front grille and bumper, Hyundai Alcazar Facelift is Hyundai step forward in the 7 seater domain.

Rear enhancements may include connected wraparound tail-lamps. 

On the interior, there is a facelift might feature a new dashboard design similar to the updated Creta, offering a modern connected-screen layout. Available in 6 or 7-seater configurations, it is likely to inherit the ADAS suite from the updated Creta. 

There are no changes on the engine options, the car shall be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol generating 160hp and a 1.5-litre diesel producing 116hp.

Jeep Meridian Facelift

Along with a new grille and potential enhancements to exterior paint schemes and alloy wheel design, Jeep Meridian Facelift is poised for updates to its front and rear bumpers.

There could be introduction of Level 2 ADAS suite and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen with new UI in the 2024 model, while retaining some features from its predecessor such as wireless smartphone connectivity and dual-zone climate control. 

With the same 2.0-litre diesel engine paired with a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic transmission, with 4WD configuration available for automatic variants, powertrain options are likely to remain consistent with earlier model.

Toyota Fortuner mild hybrid (MHEV)

With this model, Toyota is planning to mirror the same technology of the Hilux MHEV recently launched in South Africa.

Powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system, the Fortuner MHEV offers an additional 16hp and 42Nm, resulting in a total output of 201hp and 500Nm of torque. 

With a claimed 5% increase in fuel efficiency as compared to the regular 2.8 diesel, it features a 6-speed automatic gearbox with both 2WD and 4WD variants available. 

Accompanied by minor interior tweaks or updates, there is an integration of Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera in this model.
